OMCs refuse to lift fuel from TOR

Accra, Feb. 6, GNA - The Oil Marketing Companies (OMC's) have since last week reduced drastically the lifting of petroleum products from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) following speculations that prices of the products were going to be reviewed.

But their action became more serious when last Saturday no company lifted any fuel from TOR, even though all the workers were at post to serve them.

Speculations have it that the prices of petroleum products would be reviewed.

Mrs Aba Lokko, Public Affairs Manager of TOR, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), on Monday, said this could lead to an artificial shortage of products of the OMCs with their continued stance. She said if the OMCs rushed later to load the products from the Refinery when anticipated the new prices are announced, pressure could be mounted on the operations of the TOR. Meanwhile, a few commercial drivers the GNA interviewed spoke of difficulties in getting fuel at some filling stations. 5 Feb. 07
