You're suffering due to failure of our leaders -Wayo

The Leader and founder of the United Renaissance Party (URP) has urged farmers to demand accountability from government and stop singing vain praises for the government.

According to him, poverty had engulfed the entire farming communities in the country as a result of government’s loss of focus.

He said farmers in the country contribute immensely to the economic growth of the nation, and for that matter they deserved good policies from government to better their plight.

Kofi Wayo made these remarks when he was addressing farmers of Kofi-Pare, a community in the Eastern Region after donating two cartons of cutlasses to them.

According to Mr. Wayo who hails from the Eastern Region, it was out of sympathy that he made the donation but not because the farmers paid any form of taxes to him in person.

“I brought these cutlasses out of sympathy because you don’t pay taxes to me. It is Kufuor who collect your taxes so why cant you ask him about what he has been doing with your money,” he charged.

The URP leader who was acknowledged for being supportive to the community by providing borehole and a road among other things, told the people to be vigilant.

. “You are suffering as a result of the failure of the leaders but you are the same people who applaud them with titles that allows them to undermine your rights,” he told them.

Kofi Wayo told the people to change their mindset and stop the tendency where if one belonged to a particular party one cannot criticize or vote against it if the party’s policies are not the best.

He observed that he had done his bset and wondered whether the president had ever done any good to the poor before becoming president.

He said farmers should be dear to the heart of any president especially in a country of ours where agriculture matters a lot to the nation’s economy.

Wayo, in his quest for the people’s vote said, “vote for me and if I become the president, I would listen to you and change the situation within a short time because I understand it” He therefore advised the people to vote massively against the NPP government come 2008 since they need not be told about their failures.

The Gyasehene of Kofi-Pare, on behalf of the community thanked Kofi Wayo for being supportive over the years.

He also wished the politicians well in his political endeavour and promised their support for him.
