Odikro appeals to Kufuor and Rawlings

Atia (B/A) Nov. 9, GNA - Nana Appiah Zakaria, the Odikro of Atia in the Techiman Municipality has appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Jerry John Rawlings to bury their differences in the interest of the nation's development.

He said the tension that existed between the two "does not augur well for the nation's peace and stability".

Nana Zakaria, also Managing Director of Zakaria Farms Limited, who spoke to the GNA in an interview, said the animosity between the two was a disincentive to political tolerance and democracy and reminded them that as senior citizens they ought to remain true ambassadors of peace and as role models to the youth.

The chief urged supporters of the two men to exercise restraint and desist from acts that would inflame passions at the expense of the country's development.

"If the country is thrown into chaos, it is the youth and the young ones who will suffer most. Most leaders and politicians will run away from the country".

He called on all Ghanaians to bring pressure to bear on the two most senior citizens to smoke a peace pipe to accelerate national development.
