Oforikrom MP, others escape death

Kayera(Ash),Nov 4 GNA - Mrs Elizabeth Agyemang, Member of Parliament (MP) for Oforikrom and four others narrowly escaped death at Kayera, near Offinso when a Kia truck loaded with sawn timber run into their Nissan Patrol car damaging it almost beyond repairs.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi at her residence, she said, she and the other occupants of the vehicle and were on their way to attend two separate funerals at Akomadan and Offinso respectively in a convoy with the vehicles of Mr. Osei-Mensah and Mr. K.K.Mensah, both MPs behind her car.

She said upon reaching Kayera, the Kia truck suddenly veered off its lane running into her car and in the process damaging it beyond repairs but all occupants escaped the fatal consequence by a hair's breadth.

They were however, rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where they were treated for their minor injuries and discharged. The MP expressed profound gratitude thanks to Almighty God, who saved their lives, saying, 93it is amazing how all occupants of such a damaged vehicle could escape death in such a horrible accident=94. A source at the Offinso Police where the wreckage of the vehicle is still lying, confirmed the story and said investigations were still on-going.
