Sept 27: WRAPPAH Hellena and TWUM Monica Afia were last in the Women's 200m first round heats.
Men's Athletics 200m Round 1: BRAIMAH Tanko was disqualified and AGYEMANG Albert was 6th and thus failed to qualify
AWERE Mark Anthony did not make it to the finals of the long jump. His best jump was 7.57.
In the 100m races, Vida Nsiah narrowly missed a place in the women's final, and compatriot Leo Myles-Mills also just missed the men's final. Nsiah came fifth in her semi-final.
In the men's 100m dash, Aziz Zakari reached the final, but did not finish the race. Favourite Maurice Greene of the USA won the Gold medal. Finishing results:

In the Lightweight division, Raymond Narh of Ghana, who had defeated an East Timorese boxer to get through to the second phase of the tournament, was himself beaten on points (11-17) by Andriy Kotelnyk of Ukraine.
