Atwima-Mponua assembly welcome positive public advice

Nyinahin (Ash), Oct 31, GNA- The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly has asked communities within it to provide positive and concrete suggestions for effective administration of the district. This is aimed at widening the base of community participation in decision-making.

Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the District Chief Executive, who made this known at the inauguration of the assembly at Nyinahin on Monday, asked the assembly members to also feel free to approach his office with their problems.

He commended the new assembly members for their courage to accept the enormous responsibility, which is not rewarded in terms of remuneration.

"Such a decision is a real display of patriotism, which only a few people are willing to exhibit in contemporary times", Mr Owusu-Ansah added.

The DCE on behalf of the assembly, chiefs and the people, extended a warm welcome to Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, for his maiden visit to the district.

Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, said the dedication and commitment of the assembly members would ensure a high level of productivity and output of the assembly. Mr Joseph Osei, a 52-year-old teacher, was re-elected the Presiding Member as he polled 43 votes against his contestant, Mr Raphael Baffour Awuah, who had eight votes.

Mr Justice Noble Nkrumah, a Circuit Court Judge, swore the Presiding and Assembly Members into office.
