Ghana@50 authorises commercial use of logo

Accra, Oct. 10, GNA - The National Planning Committee of Ghana@50, the copyright owner of Ghana's 50th anniversary logo, said on Tuesday that it had authorized its use for the commercial production and sale of souvenirs and branding of products on certain terms and conditions. A statement signed by Mr Henry Okyne, Public Affairs Officer, said the Ghana@50 Secretariat, acting on behalf of the National Planning Committee, would allow the use of the Logo only upon authorization and licensing by it.

"Any entity or person, who wishes to use the logo must complete and submit the application form and upon approval, pay the prescribed licensing fee.

"The logo shall be used expressly and exclusively on the product(s) for which the licence has been granted."

The statement said entities or persons wanting to use the logo for multiple purposes should submit separate applications and obtain licences for each proposed use.

Those who used the logo illegally would be prosecuted under the Copyright Laws of Ghana, the statement said adding that application forms and other details were available from the Project Manager, Branding and Licensing, at the Offices of Ghana@50 Secretariat located at the Independence Square.

In another statement, the Secretariat said members of the public could buy anniversary souvenirs, such as T shirts, Lacoste shirts and NBA caps from the Secretariat.

The items can be bought individually or on wholesale basis for minimum quantities of 50 per product. 10 Oct. 06
