Anomabo wants heroes honoured

Accra, Sept. 27. GNA - Nana Egyir Aggrey, Mpontuhen of Anomabo, on Wednesday said in Accra that Anomabo and her citizens should be honoured during Ghana at 50 celebrations for vital roles they played in the Gold Coast and later Ghana.

"Anomabo has produced great sons for Ghana," he said this at the formal launch of honouring Anomabo heroes. He said that few people in Ghana knew that Anomabo was the first capital town of Ghana, before it was relocated to Cape Coast and finally to Accra.

He said Kwegyir Aggrey was a founding member of Achimota and the Mfantsipim School, which has produced a lot of leaders for Ghana. Nana Aggrey said the people of Anomabo have requested for the body of Ekem Ferguson to be returned to Anomabo for a befitting burial and =93we are eagerly waiting for response from the Government=94. Ferguson sacrificed his life to serve his countrymen from slavery and was brutally murdered by Babatu and Samari and buried in Wa.
