13 Assembly Members reclaim their seats

Obuasi (ASH), Sept. 27, GNA - The Obuasi Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) last night, declared the results of the district assembly elections in 27 out of the 30 electoral areas in the Obuasi Municipality, announcing the return of 13 incumbent Assembly Members to the Assembly.

They are Stephen K. Addai for Anyimadukrom, John Sackey for New Nsuta/JSS, Victor Alhassan Bawa for New Nsuta/Zongo, Bismark Nii Tieko for Boete, John Amankwaa for WJS and John K. Anokye for Tutuka Tiatiaso. Others are Alfred Fosu Donkor for Kwabrafoso West, Isaac Nuamah for Akapoliso, Owusu Fordjour for Estate, Francis Atta Agyapong for Brahabebome, Benjamin Annan for Sansu and Joseph Ndah for Binsere. David Kenya was returned unopposed at the Tutuka North Electoral Area.

The results also named three casualties of the incumbent Assembly Members, as Irene N.B. Quaye for PTP, Emmanuel Kojo Fordjour for Bidieso and Hussein Abdulai for Kwabenakwa.

The new entrants to the Obuasi Municipal Assembly included two ladies, namely Faustina Amissah, Ahasoyewodea and Sabina Agyei, Bidieso. Prince Agyei Badu, who sought a comeback after his 2002 defeat and won the Bogobri seat with 629 votes as against his contestant, James Adabor's 535 votes.

The rest of the new entrants are John Anim, Greek, Baba Alhassan Adamu, New Nsuta/Ante Bea, Kwabena Mensah, Anto uasi, J.K. Danquah, Gausu East, Emmanuel Baiden, Obuasi Market Square, Eric Bosompem, PTP and Emmanuel Opuni, Sikafoamantem. Others are John B. Mensah, Kwabrafoso East, Isaac Fordjour, Kunka New Town, Edward Akwasi Akuoko, Gausu North and Justice Anokye, Kwabenakwa.

Mr francis Addai-Boateng, the Municipal Electoral Officer said the remaining results from Tutuka Central, Anyiam and Odumasi would be announced later.
