First ever Kitchen Fair launched

Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - The first ever International Kitchen Fair to be organized in Ghana was launched on Wednesday with a call on families and individuals to use modern technological ways of cooking. "In this era of technology, it will enable most children, who spend so much time helping their mothers in the kitchen to have more time to read developmental books".

Mrs Marilyn Amponsah-Annan, Director of the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, who launched the fair, noted that the kitchen played a very vital role in the life of everybody and saw the fair as very important not only to women but also dieticians, men, nutritionists, food production and distributing companies and manufacturers of kitchen utensils.

The four-day fair, which would be held at the Trade Fair from November 26 to November 30, would allow participants to showcase the latest in kitchen fittings, accessories, food and food items. Countries to participate in the fair include Ghana, United States, South Africa and Czech Republic.

The Fair, under the theme: "Green Home and the Culture Kitchen-Food of the Planet", would also profile events such as producers of cooking pots and utensils; manufacturers of tiles and kitchen cabinets; electric and gas cookers; heaters; ovens; grills; manufacturers and importers of food and spices as well as manufacturers and importers of kitchen fitting and accessories.

She urged families and individuals to take advantage of the fair and discuss topical issues relating to the kitchen industry and be more informed.

Ms Nadeen Chi Roberts, Event Director, said technology had made cooking easy and simple.

"The task of grating, rasping, juicing and grinding have all been put to ease with variety of tools and machines that are easy to put to work."

She said the fair would expose housewives, chefs and cooks to the varieties and variation of utensils they could choose from, help expand the market of participating companies and enhance bonding, networking and business communication.
