Let us respect the Presidency - Hammond

Nsokote-Ashanti, Sept. 04, GNA Mr Kobina Tahir Hammond, Member of Parliament for Adansi-Asokwa and Deputy Minister of Energy, has stressed the need for Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliation to give due recognition and respect to the Presidency.

It is time Ghanaians give due recognition and respect to the Presidency, he said.

Mr Hammond made the call during a tour of some communities within his constituency to interact with the people and explained government policies and programmes to them at the weekend.

Accompanied by Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, Adansi North District Chief Executive, Mr Hammond toured Aboabo, Pipiiso, Saketey, Anomabo, Hwekpose, appiah-Nkwanta, Nyame Na Ose, Nyame Ye and Nsokote. Mr Hammond also inspected some development projects including the extension of electricity to the area.

The MP said respect for the Presidency was essential to the deepening of the country's democracy and good governance. He assured the people of the government's commitment to ensure every part of the country was developed.

The Deputy Minister said the Agyenkwaso-Anomabo road and Agyekwaso-Bodwsesango road, all in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency would be tarred to link Akim Oda and Asante Akim to facilitate movement of goods and services and enhance economic growth of the area. Mr Hammond said granting of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) to the country was a demonstration of the good governance practices being exhibited by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under the leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor.

He urged the people to keep faith with the government and not allow themselves to be deceived by opponents of the government. The DCE assured the people of Anomabo that the assembly would consider the construction of a Junior Secondary School block in its future development budget.

Mr Ameyaw advised the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enjoy affordable and quality health care delivery. At Nsokote, Nana Kwasi Agyare Chief of the town told the MP that extension of electricity to the community was their major priority.
