Canada awards security personnel

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Friday rewarded Mr Joseph Ofori, security personnel of ACHICK Security Company, for honesty and dedication to duty.

The reward, a cheque for two million cedis, followed a letter of recommendation signed by Donald Bobiash, Canadian High Commissioner in Accra.

The letter said last February, Mr Ofori, who was on assignment at the Kotoka International Airport(KIA), safely kept a misplaced handbag which contained a lap top, digital camera, credit cards and other valuables.

An official of the Canadian High Commission, who returned to Accra after a trip outside the country, had inadvertently left the items in a trolley after loading his luggage, it said.

The letter said Mr Ofori sent the items in tact to the Official, after he had fruitlessly searched for him.

Mr Simon Allotey, Acting Director, GCAA, presented the cheque to Mr Ofori and praised his virtuous attitude, adding that it would be of great benefit to him in the course of his life.

He commended the Canadian High Commissioner and ACHICK Security Company for bringing such honour to the GCAA, especially in the wake of renewed efforts to make the KIA a safe and secure place. Mr Richard Sarfo Kwarteng, Director of ACHICK Security, thanked the GCAA for the acknowledgement.
