NPP Inherited NDC's Gutter Economy -Ntow

Despite recent economic hardship and the growing challenges of the country, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s General Secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow had stated emphatically that when one checks the indices of democracy in Ghana, one will realise that democracy dawned on Ghanaians when the NPP took over power in 2001, after 30 years in opposition, from I. K. Acheampong’s regime to AFRC, Dr. Hilla Limann’s administration, PNDC under J. J. Rawlings to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He said until 2001, the media dare not talk about issues concerning government policies, but the NPP, now in power, has given Ghanaians, the freedom of their spirit, the freedom of conscience and has been able to put up a government that has been able to manage a tattered economy. Nana Ohene Ntow who shared the pain of baseless critics of the opposition on government policies in Takoradi at the NPP Western Regional Executive Committee meeting and the 14th anniversary, described the economy inherited by the NPP as a gutter economy taken by the government to reshape the direction of the country.

He therefore wondered why some few people will want to throw mud at the President without wondering the dynamism of his leadership in turning around the economic. “A government that has been able to take the economy from gutter, managed it to this level?” he asked. Challenging the opposition NDC, Nana Ntow expressed shock, stating that good governance in accordance with the law, devoid of arbitrary in administration must now be drummed for Ghanaians to realise that they have contributed significantly for the growth of this nation.
