German family donates computers to hospital

Mampong (Ash), Aug 04, GNA - A German family on Wednesday presented three personal computers and accessories and a photocopier, all valued at 3,800 euros (40 million cedis) to the Asante-Mampong District Hospital.

Dr Justus Schultess, 61, and his daughter, Franciska Schultess, said the donation was made possible from money they had raised from friends in Germany.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr. Schultess, a Munich-based private medical practitioner, said he was encouraged to assist the hospital when he first came to Ghana last year to visit his daughter, a volunteer at the Mampong Babies' Home.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Emmanuel Ahiable and the Sekyere West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Huruna Oppong-Boateng received the donation.

Dr Ahiable said the computers and photocopier would improve record keeping in the Biostatistics, Dispensary and National Health Insurance Units of the hospital.

" While expressing our profound gratitude for this wonderful show of friendship, I have no doubt that these ICT facilities would go a long way to boost the moral of staff and bring about efficiency in the discharge of their duties", he said.
