Tagor appears before Cocaine Committee

Accra, Aug. 1, GNA - Mr Kwabena Amaning; alias Tagor, the man believed to be having information on the disappearance of cocaine from the M.V. Benjamin ship that docked at the Tema Port on April 27, on Tuesday appeared before the Georgina Woode Committee.

Tagor, who was making his first appearance, was not allowed to make any statement since his accusers were not available to listen to his side of the story to enable them to cross-examine him. Mrs Woode, Chairman of the Committee, therefore, urged Tagor to reappear before the Committee on Wednesday when it was likely that those accusing him of being at the centre of the disappearance of the cocaine from the ship would be present.

She gave him the assurance that he (Tagor) was not on trial and the Committee was not a court of law, but rather a fact finding one that was to unravel the truth about the disappearance of the cocaine from the ship.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Kofi Boakye together with Alhaji Moro Mohammed, a car dealer based in Kumasi, and Alhaji Abass all witnesses in the Tema cocaine affair had mentioned Tagor as being at the centre of the cocaine raid at the Tema Port when they appeared before the Committee.
