Police shoots Bulldozer Operator at Anyinabriem

Tarkwa (W/R) July 31, GNA 96 Police Lance Corporal Alex Anagbonu on Tuesday July 25 shot and broke the two legs of Moro Kramo, bulldozer operator of Interberton Road Construction Company, at Anyinabriem, near Sefwi Wiawso, for allegedly siphoning diesel.

A bullet hit the shins of both legs and another hit the right thigh. Kramo is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Speaking to GNA from his hospital bed, Kramo said while at work on Tuesday Lance Corporal Anagbonu came and signalled him to stop and come down but he refused to stop because at work he had to take instructions from his Foreman only.

He said one Amoh, a security man of Interberton, climbed the bulldozer and went and stood by his side. He said he heard Lance Corporal Anagbonu fire two shots so Amoh told him to stop. He said he drove into a nearby palm plantation and parked but that notwithstanding, the Policeman aimed at his legs and shot him. He again aimed at his thigh and fired.

Chief Supt Daniel Sapak Sampana, Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, confirmed to the GNA that Lance Corporal Anagbonu shot and broke the two legs of Kramo.

He told GNA in an interview at Tarkwa that of late there had been rampant stealing of fuel at the Interberton worksite and measures were put in place to track down the culprits.

Chief Supt Sampana said it was alleged that Kramo had arranged with some people to siphon fuel for them so L/C Anagbonu and some workers of the Company were detailed to lay ambush to arrest Kramo and others. Chief Supt Sampana said information reaching him indicated that Kramo and the other culprits were caught red-handed siphoning the fuel but the accomplices bolted leaving Kramo and his bulldozer. He said Kramo started moving his bulldozer and refused to stop adding that when a colleague worker attempted to stop Kramo he turned his dozer and wanted to run over him.

At this juncture, Chief Supt Sampana said the Policeman shot Kramo in the legs.

He said Kramo was first sent to Sefwi Asafo Hospital from where he was referred to the Okomfo Anokye Hospital.
