Edumadze in trouble

....NPP youth uproot him like cassava

The trouble of the former Central Regional Minister, Hon Isaac Edumadze is far from over. He now faces the brunt of his party’s youth who have vowed to chase him out of the government bungalow he is still occupying, months after losing his ministerial position in the recent cabinet reshuffle.

This fresh ado is coming at the heels of an abrasive legal battle the former regional chief executive is fighting with the publisher of The Chronicle newspaper in which he had already suffered 200 million cedis damages and additional 20 million cedis cost.

As if that was not enough, the irate youth have served notice to the former minister that they would forcibly get him out of the official residence to give way to the new regional minister, Nana Ato Arthur who has no access to the minister’s office as well as the official residence even after the official handling-over ceremony.

However, Mr. Edumadze has blamed his successor for his troubles, suggesting that Nana Ato Arthur undermined him.

The decision of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth in the region was relayed by Alhaji Jibrin, Regional Organizer of the party in an interview with the Daily Guide.

According to him, he has had to intervene through an appeal to the former minister, to give way to the newly appointed man to function fully as the regional chief executive.

The regional organizer regretted that Hon Edumadze was behaving as if he was the only person affected by the recent shake-up, adding that he was making it seem he did not have a place to go besides the regional office.

Alhaji Jibrin went on to say that it would be in the interest of Hon Edumadze to vacate the office and the Cape Coast residency, since all the ministers affected by the reshuffle had left office.

Hon Edumadze, a very controversial figure, was one of the high profile personalities to be swept away by the recent cabinet reshuffle in the Kufuor administration.

Those affected by the shake-up are expected to have handed over by now to the new people.

In the northern region, Alhaji Mustapha Idris Ali has already taken over from his predecessor, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, who has moved to the position of Minister of Employment, Youth and Social Welfare.

When Hon Edumadze was contacted yesterday, he denied occupying the office as well as the residency. According to him, he had handed over the keys since June.
