Diasporians to inaugurate National Party

TRUE TO earlier reports from our international political sources, The Chronicle can exclusively report the arrival in the country of a large number of seasoned foreign-based Ghanaian politicians, who are ‘possessed’ by an unwavering determination, to change the political chemistry of the country through what has been christened, a civil revolution.

The first target of the ‘revolution’, according to our sources within the political returnees, will be the waging of a war against the continued enjoyment of the current Presidential, ministerial and legislative privileges, which for many, are unjustified considering the status of the nation’s economy and the suffering of the masses.

The determination of the group is thus, geared towards capturing (democratically) political power through an orchestrated agenda of launching a massive civil revolutionary campaign aimed at eventually changing the mindset of the citizenry about Ghanaian politics and politicians.

Mr. Ofori Ampofo, the current leader of the group, who was domiciled in the United States, confirmed that most of his colleagues had arrived while others were to arrive before Saturday for the launching of the party, which is to be called National Party (NP).

He told The Chronicle in an interview that the group had decided to descend into the local political scene because of, “The blatant mismanagement of the nation’s affairs and the massive squandering of the little resources of the country.”

He also confirmed the agenda of the group to embark on a massive education of the populace for them to appreciate how politicians had succeeded in worsening their plight through political deceit.

“The people must be made aware that their conditions ought to have been better if they had had good leaders since independence.

We are allowing the perpetration of a situation where the sons and daughters of presidents, ministers and legislators would continue to become presidents, ministers and legislators. The trend must change to allow the empowerment of everyone,” he said.

The ‘revolution’ is thus aimed at the accomplishment of socialist tenets where the proletariats, who constitute the majority in the society, will not continue to be at the mercy of the few capitalists’ bourgeoisie.

If the signals being picked about the level of resourcefulness and resoluteness of the group towards the revolution do not turn out to be a false dawn, then the nation may soon witness an incessant agenda and propaganda, aimed at exposing Ghanaian politicians, past and present, as a category of corrupt, greedy and, maybe, good-for-nothing individuals.

A couple of meetings have been held in Hohoe in the Volta Region, where a large number of NDC sympathizers, including former District Chief Executives, have already been poached. Other meetings have been held in Kumasi, and Cape Coast.

Though the news may be received as a spicy rumour, the paper can confirm that the group is through with plans with local counterparts to give birth to a new political party in the country on Ghana’s Republic Day, July 1, as it reported earlier.

Meanwhile, the paper can also confirm that a couple of meetings have been held among the power brokers of the yet-to-be-launched party in a private residence in Accra and in the Regions during which known political allies of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have expressed their disappointment in the current political order in the country and pledged their support for and commitment to building of the new party.

Already, officials of both the ruling NPP and the opposition NDC, are said to be working seriously not to allow their members fall prey to this new political hawks and to also coil any serious ramifications that the activities of the new party may pose for their chances in the 2008 general elections.

The paper can also disclose that there are other big people like Professor Nana Darko, an American-based Legal Practitioner, Mr. Frank Gyamwodie, an experienced NDC Politician, and Mr. Kofi Hunu, based in the Western Region, who are staunchly behind the National Party.
