Police to deal with Officers involved in drug deals

Accra, June 21, GNA - The Police Administration said on Wednesday it would not shelve or cover any officer involved in any narcotic drug deal.
"The Police remains committed in fighting the drug menace within the country and will continue to support international efforts to combat it", a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Service said.
The statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Police Superintendent David Eklu in reaction to recent media reports of alleged involvement of some Police Officers in narcotic drugs deal, indicated that the Police Administration had taken a very serious view of the allegations and called on the public to continue volunteering information to clamp down on persons engaged in the narcotic trade. The statement said, "the Police as an institution is firmly committed to the fight against the drug menace in the country", adding, it would not spare any Officer found guilty of any act that 93tend to cast a slur on the image of and good work of the majority of personnel in the Police Service".
It quoted the Inspector General of Police Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong assuring Service personnel that it would encourage and give the appropriate reward and recognition to personnel, who exhibited honesty and dedication to duty and other acts that were hallmarks of professionalism.
