Oguaa celebrates Black Stars win

Cape Coast June 17, GNA-Overjoyed soccer fans and supporters in the Cape Coast municipality on Saturday poured into the streets when the final whistle went for end of Group E match played in Cologne Germany between Ghana and the Czech Republic which Ghana won by 2-0.

In fact, everyone including toddlers and the elderly were so happy with the win against the Czechs as taxi cabs came out tooting heir horns, while bicycles and motor riders displayed their riding skills on the streets making detours and styles. Drinking bars and other entertainment spots were not lift out of the celebration as they played loud music from giant speakers associated with brass band music.

People were seen in groups either discussing the number of goals the Black Stars should have scored or the chances they wasted. Mr Fifi Mensah a worker of the Information Services Department said he was so happy with the score-line and that Monday should be declared a public holiday and that his two months salary should be given to the Blacks Star for their wonderful performance. He said the two goals had come to cancel the 2-0 defeat they suffered when they played Italy and that it was a good sign for the Stars to move to the next stage of the tournament.

A taxi driver who mentioned his name as Yaw said the Stars played very well, but that the goals should have been three or more to show the Czechs that there was a football club called Black Stars in Africa. Ms Joyce Menson, a hair dresser, said the win was a blessing sent by God and that she would drink two bottles of 91Stone Beer=92 to give thanks to Him, adding that the afternoon=92s rain in the municipality was a blessing that enabled the Stars to win.

At about 1530hours GMT many who had attended funerals and traders who went to the markets were seen rushing back home while other rushed to drinking bars to get themselves bottles of hard liquor to enable them to watch the match without heart aches. When the match finally started the streets went dead and people were seen in groups watching the match and jubilation began with Ghana=92s early goal in the second minute.
