President salutes Stars

Accra, June 17, GNA 96 President John Agyekum Kufour has congratulated the Black Stars for their historic victory over the highly rated Czech Republic in their second game of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. A statement from the office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, said, 93the President believes the victory was as a result of hard work, dedication and resilience of the players, the support and the prayers of all Ghanaians.

It said, "the efforts of the technical team whose ability to read the game and issue strategic directions resulted in the sweet victory". The statement said the victory has brought honour and glory to Ghana and emphatically stamped Ghana as one of the leading football nations in the world. President Kufuor believes 93the Stars will win the next game and advance to the next round of the competition=93. He appealed to all Ghanaians to continue to pray for the success of the team in their subsequent games to bring glory to Ghana. The Stars scored a goal in each half to win the game 2-0 after outplaying the Czechs through the entire duration of the game.
