Gruesome murder causes shock

Ankaase (Ash), June 14, GNA - Mampongkrom, a farming community near Ankaase in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti, has been thrown into a state of grief and shock, following the gruesome murder of a 45-year-old woman,

Amina Fuseini, a resident of the community. The deceased, who sold plantain for a living and a mother of seven, was found lying in a pool of blood with cutlass wounds at about 2030 hours on Friday, June 8, at a spot on the Mampongkrom-Ankaase road.

Kwaku Laglah, a 25-year-old un employed has been arrested and is being held at the Manfo Police Station on suspicion of committing the crime.

Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Kwadwo Appiah, a farmer at Assemblymankrom, said Amina passed through their cottage on her way to Ankaasae to find a vehicle to convey a large quantity of plantain she had bought to Kumasi for sale.

He said some few minutes after she had passed, they heard someone screaming and shouting that she was being sexually assaulted. Later the person started shouting, "I am being killed."

Mr Appiah said he together with the brother rushed out of their house and run towards the direction of the screaming. He said when they got to the scene, they saw the deceased in a pool of blood and so he asked his brother to keep watch over her as he returned to the cottage to call for help.

He said, Amina, died whilst being conveyed to the Tepa District Hospital for medical attention. Police Detective Inspector Amankwaa of the Manfo Police

Station, confirmed the story and said they were investigating. The body of Amina had since been deposited at the Hwidiem Catholic Hospital morgue.
