Queen bids farewell to departing UK envoy

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has praised H.E Mr. Isaac Osei, the out-going Ghana?s High Commissioner to the UK for his distinguished and dedicated service during his duty tour of the UK

She commended the Ghana?s envoy for the leading role he played in the activities of the diplomatic community and expressed the hope that he would take away fond memories of the UK.

?I thank you for the immense contribution you have made towards the strengthening of the unique ties between our two countries and I wish you and your family every success in the future? said the Queen.

The statement was contained in a special message delivered on behalf of the Queen by Sir Anthony Figgis, Her Majesty ?s Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps when he called on Mr. Osei to bid him farewell at the behest of the British Monarch.

Present at the meeting was Mrs. Marian Osei, wife of the High Commissioner, Mr. Adolphus Arthur, Deputy High Commissioner and Mr. Charles Wereko, Counsellor Information at the Ghana High Commission.

Responding, Mr. Osei expressed appreciation for the support accorded him by the British government during his tenure, particularly the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department of Trade. He was confident that similar support would be accorded the in-coming High Commissioner.

Mr. Isaac Osei who leaves the UK during the month to assume duty as Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, added that he would work fervently to improve the lot of peasant cocoa farmers in Ghana.

Sir Anthony Figgis presented an autographed picture of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on behalf of Her Majesty in recognition of the meritorious services rendered by Mr. Isaac Osei.

Mr Annan Cato, a veteran diplomat and the former Secretary to the Cabinet , will take over the mantle as Ghana?s envoy to the Court of St. James? next month.
