The United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Jon Benjamin has implied in a publicly shared tweet that the newly opened Kwame Nkrumah interchange is nothing exceptional, based on his travel experience.
When a Twitter user, @ZimmAconcept mentioned the commissioner in their tweet that said they were looking forward to knowing Mr. Benjamin’s impression about the new flyover, the response was perhaps not what many celebrants (of the latest infrastructure) would have expected.
In related news by rather underwhelmed observers, commentary by award winning Ghanaian journalist, Manasseh Azure on the flyover since its opening has mainly been about Ghanaians’ ability to over play small successes and underplay major problems the country faces.
There have been mixed reactions to the new grand infrastructure that cost the country over Ghc300m (in partnership with the Brazilian government).
While some are of the belief that this new flyover is highly commendable and even elevates the city of Accra to the status of the likes of Dubai, others are either indifferent or blatantly underwhelmed and are in quite a haste to discuss other issues that they feel are bigger and more urgent for national development.
However, some critics have viewed this development as a positive one that will ease the traffic congestion normally on the circle routes but have advised Ghanaians to “focus on the bigger picture.”
