Yakubu Hanebe Yirbito appointed chief of Sissala community in Greater Accra

The newly-installed head of the Sissala Community in the Greater Accra Region, Kuoro Beacher, Abudu Welleh II has promised to fight and protect the interest of Sissala people in Accra.

At a colorful ceremony on November 30 in Accra, Abudu Welleh who is known in private life as Yakubu Hanebe Yirbito was installed ruler of all Sissala communities in the Greater Accra Region.

The event which was witnessed by the National Chief Imam, the Ga Manshe and other dignified persons saw the newly-crowned chief expressing gratitude to the elders of the group.

He also thanked God and promised to operate an open door policy where tolerance, accountability and humility will be associated with his ruler-ship.

While reveling in his new role, Abudu Welleh recognized the responsibilities that come with the position and promised to execute them effectively.

“I appreciate the confidence the surviving elders and the council of eminent sub-chiefs of Chief Abukari Mardah and his family reposed in me to lead our people in Greater Accra Region in particular and Ghana at large”.

“By this, I whole heartedly accept this role assigned to me and promise that I will at all times and in all situations lead my people within the limits of our collective abilities and resources. From this moment on, I avail myself to every opinion from everyone that will enable us foster unity among all Sissalas.

Addressing the gathering, the former District Chief Executive of the Lambussie District in the Upper East Region spoke highly of the new chief and backed the decision to appoint him as ruler.

He provided an exhaustive background information about Abudi Welleh II and beseeched God to guide him with divine wisdom.

“As mentioned earlier, his successor (Beacher Welleh I) died on 20th August, 2005, after a short illness. It was during the deliberations as to the organization of Beacher Welleh’s funeral that the council of responsible elders/advisers demanded that the vacuum be filled before the late chief was buried”.

“After several consultations, the matter was referred to the close confidants of the late chief who by their wisdom nominated and presented Yakubu Hanebe Yirbito to the public. He was subsequently accepted by the public as the reagent (next chief) pending his coronation” excerpts of his statement read.

He ended with “Kuoro Beacher Abudu Welleh II, may Almighty God guide your steps and decisions in every matter that may come before you”
