The bodies of an unknown woman and her one-year-old baby girl, have been found floating on a river at Klagoon, near Lashibi, in Accra, and have been retrieved by the police.

The bodies which were in an advanced state of decomposition are yet to be identified.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Effia Tenge, who revealed this to The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday said on February 4, the police received information about the two bodies floating on the river.

He said personnel were dispatched to the scene and found the corpse floating on the river. The PRO described the woman as wearing a yellow skirt, while the baby was in diapers, floating 50 meters apart.

ASP Tenge said the Police suspect they might have been washed into the river as a result of last Tuesday’s downpour.

She said the bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary. ASP Tenge said that efforts were being made to trace the relatives of the victims.

She urged the public whose relations have not returned home since that period to contact the police.
