Head coach of current Ghana League Champions Bashiru Hayford has insisted his side were not tasked to win the just ended G6 competition.

A section of Ashgold supporters had complained about the team’s performance put up at Essipong during the FirsTrust G6 Tournament.

Expectations of the teaming supporters were to conquer all the participating teams to show their superiority as league winners.

However, Coach Bashiru Hayford has disclosed that he was not tasked to win the G6.

"I’m not disappointed in my players because the target was not to win G6".

The coach emphasized how the competition helped expose the weaknesses in his side.

“The tournament has rather helped me to identify certain things I need to work on in the team. That is why we were there and not to win.”

The Obuasi-base club lost a pre season SWAG Cup match against Asante Kotoko and the fans appear worried ahead of their CAF Champions League clash with MO Bajaia.

Ashgold are preparing to face MO Bajaia in the CAF Champions league on 13th February at the Len Clay Stadium.
