Vice president of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, was the Administrative Manager of Division One side Great Olympics.

The football administrator left the for former Ghana Premier League champions in to join Liberty Professionals and he is currently chairman of the club.

George Afriyie, much noted for his passion for the game, left the Great Olympics after he was served a bitter wine to swallow, according to the ardent supporter of the Accra-based club, Joseph Langabel.

Speaking to sportscrusader.com, Langabel revealed that George Afriyie was forced out of Great Olympics in sour circumstances. He revealed that the club stabbed him at the back and he had to leave.

“I love Accra Great Olympics because it is my club and I will always support them, but I have joined Kotoko and will support them wherever they will go.

“Great Olympics is on and off, and their attitude forced George Afriyie out. The man spent huge sums of money to build the team, but management did stab him.

“He invested so much and the hope of getting back his money was to come from the Glo sponsorship money, but management quickly went for the money without telling him.

“If you’re the one, how will you feel? It is sad that Great Olympics has sunk so low. George Afriyie was going to make Olympics a big club, but management made his decision untenable.”

George Afriyie was named vice president of the Ghana Football Association last year after the FA elections.
