The Ghana Football Association will engage headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League, First Capital Plus Bank [Capital Bank] in a legal showdown should the latter pull out of the contract, Ghana FA Spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara has revealed.

Reports are rife in the media that the financial outfit will be pulling out of the contract after initially writing to the Ghana FA seeking for a suspension of their engagement.

The sponsors stated rebranding as the reason for seeking for the suspension but experts believe that they want to pull out of the contract.

Speaking in an interview on Starr FM, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saanie Daara, hinted that there will surely be a legal tag-of-war between the two bodies if the sponsors pull out.

“Their request for a suspension of the contract is because the financial outfit is undergoing restructuring, but we are yet to engage the bank on its request and hope they don't terminate the partnership,” Daara said.

“But if they should, the legal tussle will not be a pleasant one for all of us,” Daara added.

It will be recalled that the Ghana FA is currently having a legal showdown with telecommunication giants Glo Ghana after they pulled out of the contract in 2012.
