We have confidence in new Director- General of NSA – Minister

Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, has said, he is confident that, Professor Peter Twumasi, will succeed as the new Director General (DG) of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Mr. Asiamah, who made this known at the induction ceremony of Professor Twumasi, the Head of Department (HOD), of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, College of Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, said with the kind of capabilities and creative mind of the new director, he was confident that, there would soon be a change at the NSA.

“I have known Professor Twumasi for many years and knows his capacity and capabilities, he is very affable, with a creative mind.

“As an energetic young Professor, I have the confidence that, he would carry along the staff of NSA to ensure that we develop all sports in this country.

“Yes, sports is a difficult terrain in Ghana, very challenging area and the most scrutinized sector, so professor you have a huge task, but the President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has confidence in you and I know with your firmness, we can trust to see a new direction at the NSA” he added.

Mr Asiamah noted that, with sports being a tool for job creation, develop of skills and talents of young people, it was necessary to have someone with the kind of leadership skills that Professor Twumasi possess, which would be a huge asset to Ghana and the NSA.

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua constituency, advise the workers of the NSA to give a helping hand and support to see a successful NSA devoid of backbiting.

“He needs your support, encouragement and advice in all fronts, you have to be very honest and truthful in the execution of your duties to see the NSA develop.

“The work environment should be free from backbiting and insults, let the NSA have an image that is rewarding enough to attract investors and sponsors, where visa racketeering would be a thing of the past” he said.

He congratulated Mr Abdul Majeed Bawa, who reverts to his former position as the Deputy Director General, for his role over the past few months, as acting Director General after the resignation of the substantive Director General.
