Six masons and their supervisor working on a two storey-building at Kotokoli Zongo were rushed to Swedru Government Hospital when the building collapsed.

The workers and Mr Kwame Benyin, the Supervisor sustained various degrees of injuries and were treated and discharged.

Dr Apetobge Dzedzegbe, Medical Superintendent of Swedru Municipal Government Hospital told the media that after evaluation of their health there was no need to admit them since there was no cause for alarm.

Dr Dzedzegbe said the residents of Kotokoli Zongo brought the six masons and their supervisor to the hospital from the debris.

The building belonged to former Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Charles Arkoh-Nunoo.

Mr Benyin told journalists that at about 1645 hours when they were about to close for the day’s job then the building collapsed.

He said the pillars supporting the building broke down all of a sudden and workers at the second floor of the building fell down.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Paul Wesley Baah, Agona Swedru District Commander said the police are investigating the cause of the collapse of the building.
