Two robbers who had been on the run since September 20 this year, and were finally arrested on Sunday at Ekye Amanfrom in the Afram Plains South District, escaped mysteriously from police custody Monday, December 14, 2015.

Class News' investigations indicate that the robbers escaped at an officer from the Tease Divisional police command transported them.

Information gathered by Class FM’s McAnthony Dagyenga indicate that the two robbers, in September 2015, broke into the shop of one Isaac Kelvin Glover, a phone dealer and resident of Tease, and made away with all his phones and tablets.

Isaac reported the matter to the Tease police the same day and a hunt began for the fugitive suspects.

After two months of combing, the police got a tip-off on the pair’s hideout at Ekye Amanfrom, where they were preparing to embark on another heist. The Officers succeeded in arresting and detaining them at the Ekye Amanfrom police station.

A close source disclosed to Class News that the police, on the evening of Sunday, December 13, 2015, conveyed the suspects to the Tease Divisional Command but an investigator there, only named as Halo, asked a police officer to return them to Ekye Amanfrom Police Station cells that same night.

The source said the robbers escaped while being transported back to Ekye Amanfrom. The officer who was transporting the robbers reported of the escape on Monday.

When contacted, Superintendent Obeng Dompreh, the Afram Plains Divisional Commander, confirmed that the two suspects had escaped from custody.
