Ghana Midfielder Thomas Boakye scored the only goal for his side, Varbergs Bois FC in the Swedish Superattan League as they defeated Ljundksile SK 1-0 at home last Wednesday.

The talented winger scored his third goal of the season just two minutes into the game when he tapped in a cross from the right flank after losing his marker.

The former Östersunds FK player joined Varbergs Bois last season but had to struggle off few injuries and upon making a full recovery, has scored three goals and helped his team move fourth on the Swedish Superattan League in their quest for promotion to the top-flight.

During his post-match interview, the 23-year-old ex-England U-18 player praised team Coach, Jörgen Wålemark for aiding him to explore his strength playing at different positions.

“Our coaches are doing a fantastic job. I’m used to playing in many positions now but of course, I am more used to playing offensively. It’s an incredible achievement, and I thank my Coach Walemark for aiding my progress,” he said.

“I am happy we won, and our quest for promotion to the top-flight is still in progress. You have to give everything for the team because the entire team is working hard and it pays off,” he added.

Boakye’s Varbergs have now won their last five games in a row and a win over Trelleborg on Sunday will move them up to second on the log thus if the third team loses or draws.
