It seems the way to fight corruption lately in Ghana is through hacking various news portals as myjoyonline.com, has joined the league of websites affected by these faceless hackers.
The hacker named “Satanic forces” has used the medium to send a strong warning to politicians engaged in corrupt practices.
Threatening to expose those involved in corruption, the hackers say the exposé will be through phone recordings, SMS, voice mail.
Some of the inscriptions read, “We want to tell the government, we are coming for them for their selfishness. We are going to fight against corruption. Very soon we are going to leak some SMS, voice calls, emails and classified documents for the people to see. We also know that they will hate us because we show you what they don’t want you to see”.
The hacker introducing himself stated that “Yes I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime of judging people by what they say and think and not what they look like. My crime is outsmarting you, something you will never forgive me for. You may stop this individual but you can’t stop us all. After all, were alike. I am a hacker and this is my manifesto”.
The hacker has however assured myjoyonline that their database is safe but they will have to wait for at least an hour before rectifying the situation.
“Your database is safe! nothing deleted just changed the index page but wait till one hour before making any correction.”
“We have no connection with terrorism.” Another message read.
UPDATE:
The site is back and currently functioning after the technical team worked assiduously to solve the issue.
