Embattled Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho has lauded the Ghana Police Service describing it as a Professional force.
The remarks follows his arrest and subsequent bail granted him over his coup comments.
The NDC Executive was picked up during a Presser at the International Press Centre for making comments considered as treasonable.
He claimed on radio that there will be a civil coup to topple the presidency of Akufo-Addo.
“On January 13, 1972 a certain Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong led a movement that removed the Progress Party from power. Busia was the Prime Minister and Akufo-Addo’s father was a ceremonial president.
Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that history has a very interesting way of repeating itself,” said the NDC firebrand on Happy FM.
Anyidoho after his bail granted him has practically shied away from his contentious comments that triggered his arrest saying his Lawyers will speak to the matter as investigations continue.
He’s refused to state whether or not he regrets making the comments which state security treated as treasonable.
But was full of praises for the Ghana Police Service indicating his encounter with the law enforcement agency has changed his perception of the institution.
“As I speak I can confess,… I have gotten a deeper understanding and a deeper learning of how the police operate. You can have all your perception indexes and put the police on top as the corrupt institution, but what I saw, what I’ve heard, what i went through, we have a very professional police service; we have a professional BNI, and I am happy that as a politician, as a senior man I went through it.” he said on Newsfile Saturday.
