Programmes Officer of SEND GHANA, Rachel Gyabaah has called on government to ensure that its planting food and job policy should target real farmers in the country.

According to her, government’s aim for planting for food and job can only be achieved if the right people benefit from it.

“…currently we look at the planting for food and jobs and we think this a great opportunity for farmers and what we will still push and demand is that, proper targeting is done so that real farmers and small farmers are targeted to benefit it from it”

She was speaking at the SEND GHANA national policy dialogue on fisher folks and fish farmers.

The event seeks to discuss issues among the farming and fishing sector. At the interactive session, fisher folks complained of lack of storage facilities.

According to them, during bumper harvest fisher folks are forced to sell their stock at a cheaper price due to lack of storage facilities.

They urged government to set up a central storage facility to enable them save their yields.
