Over 194 pedestrians have been knocked down by motorist on the Madina-Adenta highway.

This alarming situation resulted in aggrieved residents blocking the Madina- Adenta road on Thursday amidst burning of car tyres and wood barricades in protest of the killings.

The police in their wake of intervening shot one more person dead, aggravating the teaming residents who promises to stage another demonstration on Monday.

Security experts say the police did poorly with the control of the Adenta riots.

Madina is one of the busiest suburbs of Accra as it links the Greater Accra Region to the Eastern Region.

The highway is the only route for motorists that commute between Accra and Aburi, Dodowa in the Eastern Region

As Highway standards demands the road requires a pedestrian walk-way (overpass) which has been in construction for over 5years.

Because of lack of political will-power the Madina-Adenta overpass has been abandoned by constructors forcing pedestrians to cross the road.

After Thursday’s demonstrations by the residents the government has promised to revisit the project by reassigning the contract.

Also in the news former Ghana Football Association Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi got a life ban from World Football governing body FIFA following his role in a corruption scandal that hit the country.

A video shown nationally by ace Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas led to the suspension and incarceration of some match officials in the country.

Wife of Mr. Nyantakyi, Christine-Marie made some damning allegations in an interview indicating that her husband indeed attempted to pay off some individuals to prevent the showing of the Anas expose´ with $100,000 but the parties involved demanded more.

Also agitations continue to rise in protest of the creation of new regions by government with some accusing President Akufo-Addo of having tribal motives.

Minority has challenged government to publish an extensive report it undertook before implementing the move while insisting that there were constitutional breaches.
