PFAG to Insure All GPL Players

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, PFAG has promised to pay for insurance premiums for all the players in the Ghana Premier League starting from the 2015/2016 season.

The move is to ensure the league becomes attractive to players as well as each player in Ghana’s top flight getting something to feed on after their football career.

Speaking at the official launch of the Ghana Premier League at the Ghana Football Association Secretariats in Accra, the General Secretary of the PFAG and former Black Stars defender Anthony Baffoe stated that his outfit are taking that initiative as a way of helping Ghana football.

According to him, the PFAG has decided to pay for the insurance premium of 30 players each from all the 16 Ghana Premier Clubs so that in events of any unforeseen circumstances, the players will have something to hang on to.

The Ghana Premier League is slated to kick off on Saturday, February 20, with the West African Football Academy, WAFA playing as host to Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Sogakope Park.
