Newly appointed Deputy Health Minister, Bernard Okoe Boye appears to have earned the admiration of North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who has endorsed his approval by parliament.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated Bernard Okoe-Boye as a Deputy Minister of Health-designate on April 6, 2020 in place of Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban who has been moved to the communications ministry.
During his vetting, Dr Okoe-Boye said he will work with his superiors to ensure the harmonization of energies and competencies to defeat the Coronavirus pandemic.
Following his approval by parliament’s vetting committee Friday, April 17, 2020, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa took to his social media page to congratulate and express excitement about the move.
“I’m elated Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has today been approved by Parliament to serve as Deputy Minister for Health. As I said on the floor, we should encourage young people who show promise, dynamism and love for country irrespective of which political party they belong to.
I sincerely wish Odade3 Ben the very best as he joins the policy frontlines in the war against COVID-19. Together we shall defeat that marauding teeny-weeny.” He wrote.
Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye is the Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
He is a licensed medical practitioner with BSC in Human Biology, Medicine and Surgery from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He also holds a Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) from Hamburg School of Applied Science and an A1 certificate in German from the Geothe Institute, Accra.
Dr Okoe-Boye is currently a Physician at Lekma Hospital, a government health facility located at Teshie.
Prior to his nomination, he was the Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Dr Okoe-Boye takes over from Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban who has been reassigned to the Communications ministry
