Northern REGSEC reinforces security in Yendi

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has reinforced security visibility in the Yendi Municipality.

Security personnel have been detailed at the Old Gbewaa Palace construction site, the Dagbon Regent's palace, the Abudus Head Mba Dugu Iddrisu Iddi' residence and at other critical installations.

This is barely 48 hours into the timeline set for the beginning of the performance of funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV from December 14 to 28, 2018.

The REGSEC Chairman, Salifu Sae-ed on a fact finding mission led a delegation to Yendi today (Tuesday).

The delegation paid courtesy calls on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya- Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani II, the Boling- Lana Mahamadu Abdulai and the Kuga-Naa.

Salifu Sae-ed at a media briefing at the forecourt of the Old Gbewaa Palace construction site expressed satisfaction in the progress made so far.

He commended all the major stakeholders in Dagbon for pledging their support to ensure a smooth transition of Dagbon from a state rancour to a state of genuine reconciliation and unity.

He reiterated the desire of government in collaboration with the three Eminent Kings Mediation Committee to permanently resolve the age-long chieftaincy impasse between the Abudus and the Andanis in Dagbon overtime.

Salifu Sae-ed reassured the people of Dagbon of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo:s neutrality in handling the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy matters.

The Regional Minister re-echoed the need for peaceful coexistence in the Dagbon Traditional Area to attract investors and development partners.



Dagombas must unite- Prince Andani

In a related development, a former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani renewed calls on Dagombas to unite for sustainable development.

According to him, Dagombas have to unite and fight their coon when enemy of poverty.

He spoke in an exclusive interview after paying courtesy calls on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya- Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani and the Boling- Lana Mahamadu Abdulai in Yendi.

He implored Dagombas to fully recover from their sharp division on Abudu and Andani lines for ages.

Prince Imoro Andani lauded the final roadmap to peace restoration in Dagbon and advocated an all-inclusive participation.

He stated that bringing to finality the chieftaincy impasse between the Abudus and the Andanis will attract investors to the Dagbon State.

He advised the youth of Yendi to be law abiding before, during and after the performance of funerals of the late two Yaa-Naas.
