Moses Asaga, Sipa Yankey, others awarded at GOGA 2015

The Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hon. Moses Asaga and Dr. George Sipa Yankey were among about 30 individuals and corporate bodies that were awarded at Ghana’s prestigious oil and gas industry awards ceremony on Friday, December 11, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

Hon. Asaga was awarded for his efforts in the execution of the industry’s deregulation policy and Dr. Sipa-Yankey was adjudged the Oil and Gas industry’s Personality of the Year 2015 for showing “dynamic leadership in new frontiers, operational excellence and by accruing large savings to the state through his diligent supervision of the design, design review and construction of the Atuabo gas processing plant and allied facilities from November 2014 to march 31, 2015,” Organizers said.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Richard Abbey Jnr, CEO of Xodus Communications, organizer of the awards said that the awards is a platform for the Oil and Gas industry to demonstrate and celebrate the advances made in the key areas of environmental stewardship, efficiency, innovation, corporate social responsibility and health and safety. “It represents a cross-section, ranging from government, regulators, oil and gas stakeholders, civil society, downstream and upstream, financial institutions and more,” he explained.

According to Mr. Abbey Jnr, GOGA is a “perfect opportunity to raise the profile of stakeholders within the context of this important industry, gain peer-recognition and further heighten visibility with a professional audience.”

“All award entries are validated by Ernst and Young and then a technical committee does a recommendation to the awarding board headed by Professor Atta Peters. The GOGA 2015 is an initiative and trade mark owned by Xodus communications. This is the 2nd edition,” he reiterated the credibility status of the award.
Promising Oil and Gas Company of the Year, Oil and Gas Financial Service Provider of the Year and Oil Marketing Company of the Year awards went to Blue Ocean Investment Limited, Fidelity Bank Limited and Vivo Energy respectively.

Juwel energy, BAJ Freight and logistics ltd and JK Horgle Transport & Co. Ltd also respectively took the Best Growing Oil & Gas Company of the Year, Oil & Gas Logistics Company of the Year and Haulage Company of the Year awards with the Lubricant Product of the Year Award going to Total Lubricant.

Local Content Initiative Award went to Pyxera Global, Oil & Gas Institution of the Year to Blue Crest College, Marketing Campaign of the Year To Allied Oil Drive More Promo, Depot of the Year to Tema Fuel Company, Bulk Distributing Company of the Year to Ebony Oil and Gas Ltd, Lube Manufacturing Company of the Year to Lubcon Ghana Ltd, LPG Marketing Company of the Year to Hills Oil Marketing Co. Ltd and Oil & Gas Service Company of the Year to AI Energy Group.

Excellence in CSR (Downstream) went to Cirrus Oil Services Ltd, Excellence in CSR (Upstream) to Kosmos Energy Ghana HC, Excellence in Hseq (Downstream) to James K.Ahiadome Transport & Co. Ltd, Excellence in Hseq (Upstream) to Modec Ghana Ltd, Emerging Brand of the Year to Petroleum Solutions (Petrosol), Brand of the Year to Allied Oil, Entrepreneur of the Year to Rev. Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, Indigenous Oil Company of the Year to Frimps Oil Company Ltd, Engineering/Construction Company of the Year to Seaweld Engineering, Oil And Gas Policy Activist of the Year to Africa Centre for Energy Policy, CEO of the Year (Downstream) to Mr. John Osei-Wusu and CEO of the Year (Upstream) to Mr. Macdonald Vasnani.

Other recipients of special awards are Mr. Chris chinebuah (ceo, fuel trade), Mrs. Abigail A. Harlley, Ms Ivy Manly Spain, Awango by total, UBI and Kosmos Energy Ghana HC.

The Ghana Oil and Gas Awards (GOGA) recognizes achievements from local and international companies involved in the Ghana Oils and Gas sector and reward those who have played a defining role in moving the industry forward.
