History was dramatically made when Asante Kotoko interim coach Michael Osei won the President Cup on Friday as a player and a coach with the club in sixteen years.

The former Black Stars midfielder won the trophy in 1990 with the Porcupine Warriors and repeated the feat at the helm of affairs as the coach of the Porcupines.

Dramatically, Kotoko won the President Cup in 1990 from their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak on penalties as was repeated on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko lifted the 2016 President Cup after registering a 3-2 win over the Phobians in penalty shootouts after a 0-0 regulation time scoreline.

And the Kotoko Coach has expressed delight following the history made.

“I won it as a player, and now I have won it as a coach. To God be the glory,” Michael Osei wrote on Facebook.

Osei guided a second-string side to beat Aduana Stars 1-0 to lift maiden FirsTrust GHALCA 6 tournament in Sekondi on Sunday.

He took charge of the team because head coach David Duncan was with the first team in Libya for an international friendly.

In 2013, Osei was on the touchlines as guided the Porcupine Warriors to win the MTN Ghana FA Cup final against Inter Allies, who were then handled by veteran coach Herbert Addo.
