Mess At Airport

…Board holds crunch meeting today

By Livingstone Pay Charlie

As NPP square pegs continue to swagger about at the Ghana Airports Company Ltd
(GACL), Board of Directors of the company are set to hold a crunch meeting today.
Sources say the board will discuss among other things what to do with some personnel
employed under mysterious circumstances during the NPP regime.

It has been established that some of the employees do not have any technical
knowledge about the aviation industry and have thus proven to be square pegs in
round holes.
In a hurried manner, the Kufuor government, just before the December 2008 elections,
employed some party apparatchiks to top management positions without recourse to
proper procedure. As the board meets today, Daily Post intelligence has picked up
indications that a stormy discussion will feature prominently among members.
Your authoritative paper can also state that while some board members are pushing
for things to be regularized in terms of employment, others are keenly putting
across a strong case for NPP goons who were improperly employed.
The latter group of board members is said to be only interested in its stomach to
the detriment of the state.
It is reported that Yaw Kwakwa, a hardline NPP chap who has so far shown gross
incompetence as Deputy Managing Director of GACL has impressed upon an NDC Member of
Parliament to lobby for him to grab the position of Managing Director.
Sources say if the MP secures the deal for Mr. Kwakwa, the latter will dole out huge
cash to support the re-election bid of the former.
“And this MP is frequenting the Castle every day to push this through,” a source
revealed.
The Minister of Transport is also on record to be pushing Mr. Chris Quaye for the
position of Deputy MD though it has been established that a damming audit report
currently hangs around his neck.
Another questionable recruitment the NPP hurriedly did before it left power was the
appointment of Fire Officer Charles Hanson Adu as Director of Airport Operations.
Mr. Hanson, a die-hard NPP chap does not know anything about airport operations but
he is there currently messing up.
All these square pegs in round holes are really running down the company but some
NDC elements who are to make sure that the proper is done are busily partnering them
for their selfish interests.
All eyes are focused on the Board’s meeting today with expectations that a proper
resolution will be attained.
In our subsequent editions, we will dig deep and dissect the Board of Directors.
Those who are saboteurs of the Better Ghana Agenda will be exposed for those with
clean hearts ready to support President Mills left to manage the entity.
Stay tuned!
