Mayor supports Beach Soccer Unity match

The Mayor of Accra Alfred Oko Vanderpuye has thrown his full weight behind the Ghana Beach Soccer Unity Cup slated for the Laboma beach resort in Accra from Friday the 15th of July 2016.

The Mayor has expressed his delight at the initiative by Beach Soccer Ghana to bring the youth in key coastal communities together for the tournament in the nation’s capital.

The colourful Mayor met the president of Beach Soccer Ghana Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and beach soccer officials where he confirmed that he will join players, officials and supporters in a sanitation exercise preceding the tournament.

The Beach Soccer Unity Cup , the first of its kind in Ghana will see the best players from the Central , Western , Greater Accra, and Volta regions coming together to contest for the giant gold trophy which was donated by the AMA boss.

The peace , unity and friendship tournament was launched at the Accra Sports Stadium on thursday, 30th of June and was graced by the director general of National Sports Authority Dr. Joe Kpenge , as well as GFA technical director Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng and GFA referees coordinator L .O. Laryea .

The Beach Soccer Unity Cup will be sponsored by Ghandour Cosmetics; regarded as Ghana’s leading cosmetics brand. The company will headline with the STYLE UP wave gel pomade. Ghandour Cosmetics will also support the tournament with an amount of Gh¢ 28,000 towards teams accommodation, feeding and transportation throughout the competition.

The Unity Cup has also attracted international sports kids brand , Puma, who are the official kit sponsor for the 3 day competition. In a further boost, the Unity Cup has received assorted drinks including the prime Santacola from West Africa Gulf Company (Comet Ghana) for the competition. It is believed that this will be the biggest gathering of youth across the coastal belt of Ghana ever witnessed in the capital. Media partners include Gtv and Supersport.
