Mahama on a three-day state visit to Mauritius

Ghana’s President John Mahama is off to Mauritius on a three-day State visit.

The visit is aimed at cementing the relationship between the two countries as well as conclude trade discussions.

The two countries will after bilateral talks on Monday sign a number of Memoranda of Understanding/Agreements on bilateral cooperation. This includes an agreement for the development of a US$260 million ICT enclave, which will become the technology hub of the sub region and create in excess of 5,000 direct jobs.

President Mahama, who leaves Accra on Sunday, will hold discussions with the President of Mauritius, Dr. (Mrs) Ameenah Gurib-Fakim and Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth.

He will also grant audience to the Chief Justice Mr. Kheshoe Parsad Matadeen and the Leader of the opposition, Mr. Paul Raymond Bérenger.

President Mahama will address a business forum on Tuesday and on Wednesday inaugurate a new private university, African Leadership College, built by a Ghanaian.

Prime Minister Jugnauth will host him to a banquet on Monday, while President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will host a lunch in his honour on Tuesday.

Accompanying the President is the Minister for Trade and Industry Ekwow Spio Garbrah, Minister for Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and a Minister of State at the Presidency, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
