MP lauded for initiating development projects

Mr Mark Woyongo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Navrongo Central Constituency of the Upper East Region, has been commended by his constituents for initiating many development projects.

The people made the commendation at separate functions when the MP who is also the Minister of Interior, visited the constituency to interact with them and to brief them about the work of Parliament.

Among the many projects the people mentioned were the construction of many boreholes, de-silting of dams, rehabilitating and expanding of health facilities, roads and the drainage system among others which had improved upon the livelihoods of the people.

Many of the women chanted “wherever Woyongo goes Water flows”, and said hitherto, they had to commute for long distances in search of water but now they were blessed with portable water close to them.

“The MP has de-silted three dams at Doba, Zakiakanwale and Yusi, which will help us to undertake dry season farming, cater for our animals and build our houses.

We are very grateful to Mr Woyongo”, they said.

Addressing the people at separate functions in Navrongo, the MP said in the 2012 election he made a promise that he would address the water problem in the constituency hence the provision of adequate water facilities in the constituency.

He said the ongoing six million dollars small town water system which would be completed in three months would help provide more portable water for the Navrongo Municipality.

Mr Woyongo said he had contacted a Turkish organization which is doing assessment to construct more boreholes to reach more people.

“We have to concentrate on extending the water facilities to the outskirts and the villages in the constituency. A proposed plan has also been initiated to rehabilitate the Tono and the Vea Irrigation facilities at Navrongo and Bolgatanga to augment the provision of portable water to Navrongo, Paga and Bolgatanga and their surroundings”, he said.

On health, the MP said he had spent 150,000 Ghana cedis to rehabilitate and expand the Kologo Health Centre which would serve the Kologo and its surrounding communities.

He said a similar plan was underway to rehabilitate and expand the Natugnia Health Centre to also provide health services to the Yua, Mayoro and the surrounding villages.
