Let us work to reduce mistrust in NPP - Ayisi Boateng

Mr George Ayisi Boateng, a founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has called on party members do well and work together to reduce mistrust and suspicion currently going on in the party.

He said the greatest challenge of the party now was mistrust and suspicion, and there was the need for all to work to remove the canker to ensure peace and unity in the party.

Speaking at a meeting of the first and second vice chairpersons of the party in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi, Mr Ayisi Boateng also urged all party members to keep themselves abreast with the contents of the party’s constitution to enable them know their duties and responsibilities as well as things that constitute misconduct.

Present at the meeting were Mr Freddie Blay an aspirant for a National Vice Chairmanship position and Mrs Otiko Afisah Djabah, who is seeking re-election as a national women’s organizer.

Mr Ayisi Boateng said the party was at the cross-roads, and what was needed now was extreme carefulness of all to elect competent, selfless and efficient people to lead the party to the 2016 general elections.

Mr Ayisi Boateng, said one of the main duties of a member was to uphold the good name of the party and abide by the decisions of the party.

“If a member or elected officer of the party flouts any decision of the party, it amounts to bringing the party’s name into disrepute, which is misconduct, and such a person must be named, shamed and appropriate sanction applied”, he stated.

This, he said would help instil discipline in members, ensure sanity and bring the needed peace and unity required for peaceful reorganization and prosecution of the party’s agenda for the 2016 election.

Mr Freddie Blay called for unity of purpose among party members, adding that, as a unifier and team player, he was prepared to work with all to bring the party back into power.

He appealed to delegates to elect competent people who were prepared to sacrifice their time, resources and energy to garner all members to work together to win elections for the party in 2016.

The meeting was co-chaired by Alhaji Rauff and Madam Serwaah Derkyi, first and second vice chairpersons respectively, of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.
