Kwaebibirem teachers demonstrate against SSSS

Kade, March 05, GNA - Teachers in the Kwaebibirem District turned out in their numbers to demonstration at Kade, against the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), for teachers, on Friday. Calling themselves concerned teachers in the district, the placards bearing demonstrators said they were highly disappointed in the Government, the Ministry of Education, Fair Wages Salary Commission, Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT)

In a resolution presented to the district administration, the teachers said they would boycott the March 06 Independence Anniversary Parade. The resolution was presented on behalf of the teachers by Mr Francis Twum, Akwatia GNAT local secretary and coordinator of the demonstrators and was received by Mr Peter Afari, Deputy District Coordinating Director. The teachers said like their colleagues in other parts of the country, they were also on a one- week sit down strike and that they would advise themselves if they did not receive a better communication on their salaries from the technical committee seating at Dodowa.

They described GNAT and NAGRAT as 93toothless bull dogs", interested= only in the collection of dues and did not care about the welfare of their members.

"For being our bargaining bodies and defending the government at the same time, GNAT and NAGRAT are double agents".
