A senior lecturer at the University Ghana, Legon in Accra, intends to battle Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings for the presidential slot of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Joseph Bediako, National Coordinator, Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR), made the announcement during an interview with Ashh FM in Kumasi.
He said the lecturer would face stiff competition from Nana Konadu, former first lady and founder of the NDP.

According to him, Nana Konadu and the said senior male lecturer had so far made their intentions of contesting for the enviable position in the NDP known.

Mr Bediako could not tell if other party people would also announce their intentions to contest in the NDP’s presidential race, in the coming days.

He announced that the NDP would soon organize its national delegates’ congress to select a presidential candidate for the November polls.

The FONKAR Coordinator disclosed that one of two regions – Greater Accra and Eastern – was being considered as the venue for the NDP congress.

He gave the assurance that the NDP would soon announce to its members the exact venue and date for the congress.
