National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adam has said the Interior Minister, Prosper Bani goofed in his claims that Superlock Technologies Limited (STL) was the company contracted by the Electoral Commission to transmit tallied election results.

His comment comes on the back of a statement signed and released Hon. Prosper Bani on Monday over the arrest of three South African ex police officers who were brought into the country by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to train its Flag bearer and his running mate’s security detail ahead of the 2016 elections.

The statement in part read: “A comprehensive report on the operations of Superlock Technologies Limited (STL) and an assessment of some key staff’s vulnerability for possible compromise was retrieved from HAZIS’S room. STL is the company contracted by the Electoral Commission to transmit tallied election results.”

It added: “HAZIS denied authoring the document but indicated that it was given to him by DANI ISAACA, an Israeli based in South- Africa. HAZIS claimed he had not read the document which had been in his possession for about three (3) weeks. During interrogation it was evident that he was conversant with the content of the document.”

The former Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan in the heat of the 2012 election issued a statement denying allegations that STL was responsible for the transmission of election results.

The Interior Minister’s statement which is in sharp contradiction of Dr Afari Gyan’s claims has become a subject of discussion for most political watchers and commentators.

However speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM Wednesday, Mr Kofi Adams stated that the Minister’s assertion is a statement in error, as STL only handles data in relation to the voters register and the biometric verification device.

“STL has a relationship with the Electoral Commission where it’s responsible for the functioning of the biometric verification device and its linkage to the voters register. Results declaration and transmission is carried out using a different system mostly through fax that is not done by STL specific.”
